The words you want to keep forever. The painting that reminds you of the wonder you witnessed as a child. The feeling of peace sitting among calm creativity. This is timeless art for the mindful life. After building a rewarding 20+ year career leading marketing at brands such as Etsy, Gilt Groupe, and Bloomingdale’s, I started my next chapter last year. My name is Pearl, and I took a leap of faith to become a full-time artist & calligrapher. I commemorate special words with custom calligraphy commissions, I design greeting cards that invite you to write with pen and ink, I paint the whimsy of nature welcoming wonder, and I teach Modern Calligraphy and other workshops with the purpose of helping women reset from their busy schedules.
Born and bred in New York City, and being surrounded by some of the world's most renowned museums and public parks, I was always moved to document the small moments of quietude and take time to enjoy nature between the daily city commotion. Moving to the Garden State with an abundance of nature has been a dream and the perfect muse for creativity.
The name, Dear Daughters, is a salutation to all women, moms, sisters, and daughters. Originally inspired by the heartfelt tradition of letter-writing and preserving memories in scrapbooks and journals for my own beloved daughters, now I write calligraphy to help preserve words you want to keep forever. I design greetings that bring joy back to handwritten notes. I paint the wonder of nature, highlighting the importance of our ecosystems. I teach women to practice analog routines that use our own two hands through calming, creative workshops.
The Co-Co is the solution to my search for genuine conversation and a space where I can exchange ideas. What initially started as a search for a workshop space in Summit has turned into much more. While it is a dream to paint all day, it can also be isolating at times, so running workshops as well as attending The Co-Co events has allowed me to connect with amazing women following their dreams too.
